Music fans across the globe tuned in for another exciting ceremony celebrating the top music videos of the past year.
Nominees were announced on August 4 when fans began voting on their favorites in categories such as best male, female, rock and hip hop video, as well as Video of the Year.
This year, Lady Gaga and Beyoncé each lead the field with an incredible nine nominations. Up for Best Video of the Year in 2009 is Lady Gaga for "Poker Face", Beyonce for "Single Ladies", Eminem for "We Made You", Kanye West for "Love Lockdown" and Britney Spears for "Womanizer".

Also watch for a new category added in 2009 featuring a retro look at videos that fans always felt should have won a Moonman award - but never did - including David Lee Roth's "California Girls" and U2's "Where the Streets Have No Name" among them.
British comedian Russell Brand returns as host in 2009, including a rumored tribute to King of Pop Michael Jackson, with special appearances by Green Day, Pink, Taylor Swift, Brit rockers Muse, and more performers and details announced as awards night draws near.
