Rwanda Genocide Commemoration

1994 saw the mass killing of approximately one million Rwandan Hutu's and Tutsis by the Hutu Government over a period of approximately 100 days. Other tragic events have occurred to add to this already tragic event.16 years later, it is essential that we celebrate the lives of the survivors and showing our undying support while paying our respects to those who lost their lives. They were all TRUE heroes who should NEVER be forgotten.

The Theme this year is:
"Let us commemorate the genocide committed against the Tutsi and continue to combine efforts in managing trauma."

12 April 2010, LS2D, 17:00pm

Campus Life... What LIfe

It’s all going down at Club Lib tonight…and every night!!! Good evening guys…welcome to the best club in the world. Feat DJ’s Commerce, Humanities, Science, Engineering, Law, Medicine and Business. Drink Specials tonight are just too fine… Education…its free (though our great University charges us bucket loads…its free.) shots of life and learning ciders. And for those who don’t drink…Fanta grape is all I can suggest. This is where we are all going to be for the next few weeks.
Such a pity beach braai was cancelled….Silly Silver… that was most of our last chances to just chilling before the grind. Rumour has it there is a BEach braai though..l BUt where??/ HHmmmrrr??? But no.. not this time. UCT has opened a club, located near Frigo right next door to the document centre… Club Lib…Chancellor Oppenheimer actually! But Oppnheimer would not be such an awesome club name So Club Lib it is! lately UCT has been so nice to us all that they pile us with work, grinding on a daily basis and when its time to chill club lib is where its happening. Better get there quick…it fills up pretty quickly! You might not even get further than the bouncer named CPS, crowd control I tell you!

But no on a serious note has anyone felt that this year is just a joke in terms of the amount of work we were given? And frankly I didn’t find it funny! The worst joke EVA!! So over it…3 wks and we are home!! SCORE!!!

Let’s Crack these homies Called UCT who think they are the cool popular kids of the school! ehehe

Annual Julius Nyerere Memorial Lecture

On the 10th anniversary of his demise,
The East African Society of University of Cape Town (EASOC) Presents the Annual JULIUS NYERERE Memorial lecture.

The aim of the lecture is to
honor the life and work of Julius Nyerere, Tanzania’s first president and a man who promoted the idea of a progress and development in Africa.

The lecture will be held at
KRAMER LT1, MIDDLE CAMPUS, UNIVERSITY OF CAPE TOWN
tomorrow the 9th of October 2009.

And the theme for this year's talk is:
"When we have an African problem, we ourselves have a duty to solve our own problems" (Julius Nyerere)

Where does Africa stand on this idea of self-reliance? And what can we as the educated youth do, to improve the situation?”

Come and join us on this day and let us learn together about Tanzania's great leader and discover what we as tomorrows leaders can do for not only our country but also for Africa.
